The Humming Test Vessel

a verse from the torn pages of your least favorite book.

the consciousness altar

I sacrificed my will
at the consciousness altar

I set free my knowledge
and ceased to pine

the shadows crept
and the settling house
wandered carelessly

calculations failed.
I did not worry.

I gave back the bridge
to the solid ground
to the pigment
to the hums and clanks

I opened the case
tugged and prodded
voiding the ills
making void the warranty

I'm stuck with the damage I've done.

I must irrigate my tomato plants if I wish for them to bear fruit.
