The Humming Test Vessel

a verse from the torn pages of your least favorite book.

Page 34

I leaned forward, hanging awkwardly off the edge of the chair in an attempt to stand.  I was going to invite the others into the courtyard to sit around the cluttered table with me.  I suddenly realized I was in a book and unable to move; rendered motionless by the hands of a reader, opening the book to the page I was occupying.  I remained motionless until the reader turned the page, at which point I questioned my purpose.  I began to search further with what little tools I had.  I dug until I reached the bottom of the filthy tin bucket.  It was then I knew my quest had failed and the book I was a part of held closer than I had imagined.  and If ever I was to succeed in my journey to observe the book from outside page 34, I may never find my way back in.
