The Humming Test Vessel

a verse from the torn pages of your least favorite book.

the instant eye

the instant eye speculates
but a cursory plunge sinks only bark deep
seeking comfort through distracting patterns
displaying gold while absorbing sledge

the comprehensive eye is wide
seeking contentedness by gathering colors
and assembling rainbows

the instant eye is well rested,
yet fat and slothed
when faced with adversity
it shrieks.
the comprehensive eye
remains calm

the patterns are gone
the sledge has corroded
the seams of
the body
the anchor tears
the fragile bark from
the tree

the instant eye
is swept into oblivion
as the comprehensive eyes
collect the colors of the events
and assembles a rainbow.
